Happy Monday y'all!

Hope everyones has started out well. DH was up and off wayyyyyy before daylight, shipping yearlings today. Hopefully they will start weaning this week. It is very very late...but the cows are all messed up with their calving. It is funny how man thinks he is so smart. We have so much technology, and yet no control over anything really. We have a lot of false control, meaning we think we are in control but we aren't. Just look at cows. You have a few really dry years, and poor grass and they don't breed back when they should. Nothing you can really do about that. I guess if they were in a more controlled environment you could do more feeding, and even AI...but out here on the wide open range it is pretty much left up to nature to do natures thing. And nature around these parts, the last several years has been all whacked out...as my kids would say. So...late calves means late branding, and late weaning. Hope they are through by Christmas! But at this rate I am not holding my breath.

I did get a chuckle the other day. We were headed into town and I looked over way and there were two bulls just hanging on the fence looking over the road to the bull pasture. They were pretty pitiful. A tad on the skinny side, and very very tired looking. They were just looking over at their pasture and wishing the cowboys would come gather them and let them have their winter rest. Usually by this time they have been all picked up and DH starts to cake them. They get started on feed quicker then the cows. They have spent all spring and summer chasing wild women, and they need a little extra care. Those fellas were sure ready to call it a night. It is always amused me that the animals know when the time for change is right. Take those bulls, They know it is time for rest. And about March and April DH won't be able to keep them in. They will be going over fences and tearing down gates, trying to get out to sow their wild oats.

I like how God has a natural order of things. It never fails to amaze me how He shows us Himself in creation. Things that He planned and devised. Just like the horses putting on their winter hair. Or the ants storing up for the winter. The birds flying south. I actually saw geese the other day. I is kinda early for that, but sure enough I saw them. Isn't it amazing how God put that instinct in them? How anybody cannot see God in creation is beyond me. Our world was a divine creation, by a thinking Being. Not a big bang, or a slimy something that just crawled up out of the mud one day. We have a Creator, and wonderful thinking, feeling, Creator. And just think about this....We have some places on this earth that just take your breath away. Think the Grand Canyon....and this is a fallen world. Can you just imagine what the Garden of Eden was like? I can't even fathom it. And and even more amazing thought is Heaven. I don't believe that we will all just be floating around on clouds playing harps. I have no idea what it will be like...but I don't think it will be that. I think that we, cannot in our most vivid imaginations imagine what it will be like. The Bible gives us glimpses...but I know that it will be wonderful. If God has shown us His love and His care and His beauty here on this fallen imperfect earth, how much more will He show up in His home. And just one more amazing thought. God loves us so much that He sent His one and only Son to die, so that we might have the promise of that eternal life......leaving you with John 3:16, read it, believe it, live it.

God Bless and Happy Trails

Isn't it funny how we're quick to think "Oh the geese, they're early!" but who knows, winters might be especially cold and they know that it's time to high tail it out of here. It is amazing, and it's completely out of our control. And I'm glad! ;)

Well said! I certainly hope we're not going to be playing harps in heaven! If I'm going to be playing a harp - the good Lord had better have a huge supply of ear plugs on hand!

What wonderful thoughts! I was once in a Sunday School class where one older and wiser said that believing in God is a matter of blind faith! I suppose that is true, especially for those whose lives are lived in utter despair. But for those of us so lucky as to be out in nature, I think we see proof of God everywhere we look.

The Bible tells us God created; I believe science is an effort to understand how He did it! But it certainly does not disprove that He did it.

As for Heaven, I have no doubt it will be even more wonderful. But there are times I look around and say I don't know how it can be. But it will!

And I hope I do get to play the harp. Don't worry! He'll either make me really good at it, or he'll provide a sound filter so it sounds that way to the rest of you!

I was in the front yard a day or two ago and heard the cranes flying over and I was thinking they were a tad bit....late. They USUALLY fly over a few weeks before first frost and Katie had to scrape the frost off her windshield before she could go to school. Oh well.....good post!!

I always feel a little anxious when the geese fly over letting me know they are headed south. They hang out on our pond until its way to cold and then they move on. I can't stop then and I can't tell them to go. Nor do I really want to. I love the sound.

Hi Paula,
I enjoyed reading your post! It was very encouraging. To God be the glory, GREAT things He has done!
"Nevertheless, He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness." Act 14:17
Thanks for reminding us of how small we truly are and how GRAND He truly is! God Bless.
His,
Maria

P.S. Thanks for stopping by my place, it is good to know we have so much in common, looking forward to reading your blog again.
