Please Pray.....

Many of you may know about the terrible wildfires burning in Texas. Even though we are not living there now it is our home. The big fire burning in counties King, Knox and Stonewall counties. Those counties have at times been home for us. Our home place in Knox county is on the Brazos river and the fire is burning about 25 miles as the crow flies. We are not in danger of losing anything, and I don't feel we will. But thousands of acers have been burned and no one will know the exact number until the fires are out. Many cattle and untold fences. This comes at at time when the country is suffering from severe drought already. The loss of cattle and fences will be a huge expense for people already having a hard time. The fire is still burning fulled by high winds, no humidity. Praise the Lord no lives have been lost and no one injured. And only two structures have been burned so far. In that area but there is more......

Now on to far West Texas. Fort Davis has lost many homes. Whole ranches have been burned through and there is no end in sight as of this evening. My oldest DS just called all all roads out of Alpine and Fort Davis are closed. He said the wind just picked back up and there is a huge thunderhead forming with lightening popping all around. He is watching the horizion. It has already jumped one highway and there is no telling where it will go. Please pray for these people. The winds have been to high for much air support and the power is off and it is hard to get enough water to fight this.

I am so sad. To know the country, to know how hard these people have worked all their lives and to be so helpless. My heart just goes out to them. But I also know this. They are strong folks. You won't hear much whining coming from them. They will grieve and they will pick up and go on.

Please when you lie down tonight pray for these people. Pray for the many brave souls that have been figthing these fires...some since Wednesday. They are tired. There is just not enough of them to go around. Pray for the folks that have lost their homes, their livestock. Pray for the safety of everyone involved.

Pray for rain.

God Bless and Happy Trails

Prayers for them all. Fire is scary, we've had some little experiences with that ourselves.

Just breaks my heart, seeing those cows laying in that burnt out grass. I never lived in Texas but something about it feels like home. May the Lord send his comfort and may the spirit in the hearts of all the Texans affected be lifted to Him.
